Energy Efficiency Contracting Opportunity

In our continuing effort to help customers use energy more efficiently, we have been offering a variety of energy efficiency contracting opportunities through our 2009 energy efficiency programs. These energy efficiency programs are approved by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), and are administered by the energy efficiency contractor, under a contract awarded by Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas).

Residential Programs

Comprehensive Mobile Home Program

Provides qualifying mobile home customers with no-cost energy conservation evaluations, installations of low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators, and gas energy efficiency improvements, such as duct test and seal of HVAC systems.

LivingWise School Program

Combines classroom learning and home retrofit/audit projects  completed by sixth grade students and their parents. It provides a LivingWise® Activity Kit for each customer.

Upstream High Efficiency Gas Water Heater Rebate Program

Offers rebates to distributors and wholesalers for high-efficiency gas water heaters to reduce or remove the price differential between these appliances and standard gas water heaters.

Residential Programs (Multifamily)

Demand Control for Multifamily Central Domestic Hot Water

Installs On-Demand Intelligent Pumps in central domestic hot water systems with re-circulation loops in multifamily buildings to help reduce unnecessary natural gas consumption.

High Efficiency Hot Water Distribution Program

Installs controller units on boilers in multi-family housing units. To encourage participation, the controllers will be provided at no charge, and customers will receive $150 toward installation of each unit.

Multifamily Direct Therm Savings Program (a.k.a. Energy Smart)

Provides qualifying owners and managers of Multifamily buildings with no-cost energy audits, products and their installation. No-cost products include: Super low flow energy-efficient showerheads, kitchen aerators, bathroom aerators, and pipe wrap for the hot water distribution system.

Domestic HotWater Controls Project

Installs a unique domestic hot water controller technology on the hot water system in hotels/motels in The Gas Company’s service territory designed to reduce natural gas consumption by a minimum of 25 therms per hotel room per year.

Natural Gas Cooling Replacement Program

Provides incentives, based on calculated energy savings, for the replacement of smaller (50 tons or less), older, inefficient natural gas air conditioning systems with new energy efficient units and quality installation procedures.

Residential and Business Outreach Energy Efficiency Programs

PACE-Energy Savings Project

Promotes energy efficiency programs in The Gas Company’s service area.  The primary target is ethnic minority communities (Vietnamese, Indian, Chinese, Korean, and Hispanic) for customers with historically low participation in The Gas Company’s energy efficiency programs.
