The billing factor is a number or adjuster used to convert the amount of gas registered on the meter to therms for billing purposes. The billing factor adjusts the amount of gas used to reflect the heat value of the gas at a given altitude and assures customers in all areas are charged equally for the value of the gas used.
You can find out the monthly billing factor for your area if you know your BTU District and Altitude Zone. If you do not know this information you may contact Southern California Gas Company at 1-800 427-2200 and we will provide you with this information for your future reference. (You can also view a Map of BTU districts to locate your BTU district.)
