Natural gas is lighter than air and has an ignition temperature of approximately 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit. Ignition of natural gas can occur from an open flame, a lit cigarette, or anything that can cause a spark, such as an electronic device, turning a light switch on or off, or use of a power tool or equipment.
