M. Angelica Espinosa is chief risk officer for Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas), a Sempra Energy regulated California utility. She is responsible for the policy, governance, structures, process and guidelines for the companies’ risk-management practices, and the interaction of risk management with asset and investment management.
Previously, Espinosa was vice president of compliance and governance and corporate secretary for Sempra Energy, as well as serving as chief governance officer and corporate secretary. She joined Sempra Energy in 2014 as chief counsel overseeing legal affairs for the company’s international businesses. Espinosa also has served as corporate secretary for IEnova, and a member of the board of Luz del Sur and Chilquinta Energía.
Prior to this, she held legal leadership positions at General Electric (GE), including regional counsel for Latin America, associate general counsel for commercial operations in GE’s Oil & Gas division and general counsel for the Measurement and Control Division of GE Oil & Gas.
Espinosa graduated magna cum laude with law and master’s degrees from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law and also holds a law degree from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia.
