Are drafts or air leaks in your home costing you money? Our Home Upgrade program can help make your home more comfortable, improve air quality, help you save energy and possibly lower your energy bills1. Take advantage of the program by making energy-efficient upgrades to your home and receive incentives of up to $1,6502 from SoCalGas®.

Whole-House Approach

The Home Upgrade program takes a comprehensive, “whole-house” approach. By making multiple improvements at the same time, the impact of your energy-efficient upgrades are multiplied. 1. Home Upgrade

Incentives: up to $1,3003

The quickest and easiest way to make your home more energy-efficient is to begin with basic upgrades that focus on the outer shell of your home, which can potentially improve the air quality inside your home for a healthier and safer indoor environment.

Choose from a combination of the following Base and Flex upgrades:

A minimum of three upgrades are required; one of these upgrades must be a Base upgrade.

  • Air sealing
  • Attic insulation
  • Duct sealing
  • Wall insulation
  • Heating and cooling equipment
  • Floor insulation
  • Other eligible energy-efficient options (see a Participating Contractor for more details)
  • Water Heating 

2. Advanced Home Upgrade

Incentives: up to $1,6502

With the Advanced Home Upgrade program, your Participating Contractor or whole-house energy rater will assess your home and create a customized plan to help you improve your energy efficiency up to 45%.

Depending on the energy savings of your project, you could receive up to $5,5002 in incentives.

Typical projects in Advanced Home Upgrade include Home Upgrade measures plus:

  • High-efficiency furnaces
  • Energy-efficient cooling equipment
  • Water heater systems
  • Energy-efficient windows
  • Duct replacement
  • Wall insulation
  • Other eligible energy-efficient upgrades (see a Participating Contractor for more details)

Historic Building EE Preservation4

The Historic Building Energy Efficiency Preservation (HBEEP) helps introduce owners of historic homes to energy efficiency programs and rebates available from SoCalGas. HBEEP is designed to help educate homeowners by demonstrating how restoration and preservation activities can be combined with energy-efficient upgrades. For more information visit

1Monthly bill reduction assumes average usage and conditions. Actual savings may vary. Required savings reduction will be based on a comparison of prior energy/thermal usage and energy/thermal usage following completion of program measures. Pre and post inspections may be required to qualify for the incentives. Program is subject to change or cancellation without prior notice.

2SoCalGas customers serviced by certain municipal electric providers may qualify for incentives of up to $1,650 upon completion of Advanced Home Upgrade improvements. Customers may also be eligible for incentives up to $5,500 based on their calculated energy savings and/or electric provider. Work with your Participating Contractor or rater to determine your upgrade’s incentive.

3SoCalGas customers serviced by certain municipal electric providers may qualify for incentives upon completion of Home Upgrade improvements. Work with your Participating Contractor to determine your upgrade’s incentive. Incentives may not exceed 50% of the total project cost.

4The Historic Building Energy Efficiency Preservation is funded by California utility customers and administered by Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas®) under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission, through a contract awarded to ICF through December 31, 2019. Program funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until such funds are no longer available. This program may be modified or terminated without prior notice. SoCalGas does not endorse, qualify or guarantee the work of ICF or any other participating contractors. California customers who choose to participate in this program are not obligated to purchase any additional services offered by ICF.
