Frequently asked
questions
As part of our standard bank account verification process, a $0.00 transaction may appear on your bank statement. This is not a charge, and no funds will be withdrawn.
Banks require verification through a process called a prenotification (or "prenote"), which involves issuing a zero-dollar transaction to all bank accounts linked to SoCalGas My Account. This prenote does not affect your account balance and may not appear on your monthly statement, depending on your bank. It can occur on both active and inactive SoCalGas accounts.
No action is required if your bank account is verified as active. If your account is inactive, the prenote will be returned to SoCalGas, and we will notify you via email that the inactive bank account has been unlinked from your SoCalGas My Account.
Our rates are regulated by the California Public Utilities Commission, or CPUC, based on three components:
- Commodity Costs – The cost of the natural gas itself
- Transportation Costs – The cost of natural gas delivery
- Public Purpose Surcharge – The cost to fund natural gas-related programs
